Sanchez-Wall will bring 13 years of experience working with smaller learning communities and developing successful career academies to Cane Ridge High School. She began her career as a U.S. History teacher in 1996 at the Career Center High School in Odessa, Texas, a high school that focused on interdisciplinary project-based instruction via career academies. In 2001, she was recruited to assist with the opening of a new high school in Irving, Texas, The Academy of Irving that has since become a national model for developing smaller learning communities. In 2006, after five years as a team leader and English I-IV teacher, Sanchez-Wall was selected to serve as assistant principal for the Visual Arts, Hospitality and Education Academy. “I have witnessed first-hand the power of smaller learning communities and career academies,” said Sanchez-Wall. “The opportunities they provide students -- the real-world experience, the rigor, the relevance, and the relationships – are incomparable. The work that has happened at several Metro high schools during the past three years has been tremendous. I am looking forward to bringing even more new ideas and opportunities to the students and teachers.” Sanchez-Wall holds a Masters degree in Education Administration from the University of Texas-Permian Basin and a B.A. degree in History, English minor, from the University of Texas-San Antonio. In 2009, she relocated to Nashville and currently serves as a high priority schools’ specialist. Sanchez-Wall is the first Hispanic-American high school principal at MNPS.
The EOC make-up testing dates are July 13 (Algebra I), 14 (English II), 15 (Biology I) and 16 (makeups).
