Dr.
Donna Matthews comes to Cane Ridge High School with 34 years
experience. She has worked as a resource teacher, high
school science teacher and counselor, school psychologist,
and supervisor. She worked 27 years in Overton County where
she worked various positions and served on various
committees including AIDS, truancy, dropout prevention,
calendar, extended contracts, and home school. She was
supervisor of technology, vocational/technical and extended
contracts. She has spent the last seven years working in
both Wilson and Rutherford Counties as a secondary
counselor. She served on the state committee with other high
school counselors assisting in setting up criteria for the
Hope Scholarship at the time of its inception. She was
school, county, and district level Teacher of the Year in
1987. She received a B.S., M.A. and ED.S from Tennessee
Technological University and her ED.D from Tennessee State
University. She has served as a committee member of
Tennessee Technological University team for SACS evaluation
of area high schools. She has published two articles in
professional journals regarding principals and assistant
principals. She also works part time as adjunct faculty for
Tennessee Technological University and Volunteer State
Community College. She teaches online Psychology courses for
VSCC and Instructional Leadership courses at the graduate
level for TTU. She and her husband are proud parents of
three children, Brad 32, Emmy 29 and Kyle 21.
