Newton Rowland

Mr. Rowland (Mr. R) began his teaching career in his hometown of McMinnville, TN.  After teaching chemistry, physics and computer programming for ten years, he left to found his own software and services computer company serving customers across the United States, Canada and Australia.  After selling his company in 1997, he returned to his first passion, teaching.  He has been in the Metro School System for the past nine years; seven years at Stratford High School and Cohn Adult High School for the past two years.  Since returning to public education, Mr. Rowland has received or renewed his certifications in the following areas: Chemistry, Biology, Ecology, Physical Science, Work Base Learning, all CTE IT/Networking and web design courses.  During the past twelve years he has been active as an assistant football coach, a wrestling coach and participated as the head baseball coach at Stratford.  In 1997, Mr. Rowland was honored to receive the Cisco Teacher of the Decade for the State of Tennessee. Here at Cane Ridge he manages the A+ Lab, is lead teacher for the Twilight School and assistant girl’s softball coach.
